Language Fundamentals is now ISL

Bethesda Language School Gets New Name, New Look and New Home.
Language Fundamentals becomes International School of Languages and moves to Woodmont Ave.

Language Fundamentals — a small, community-oriented language school operating in Bethesda since 2006 — announced today that is moving down the road to storefront 7906 Woodmont Ave and has changed its name to International School of Languages. This new location, right across from Fortuna’s, is bigger, brighter, and is located at street level for easier access to everybody. The new name and brand also reflects the growth and extension of services of a school that started in 2006 with one employee, owner Marian Zapata, teaching Spanish to children.

“We pride ourselves in our dedicated and rigorous personalized foreign language instruction to students of all ages and abilities,” said owner and CEO Marian Zapata, “and felt the need to create a new name and brand that reflects how we have evolved and the variety of languages and students we serve in our community.” In fact, the name International School of Languages better conveys the values and focus of the school, which boasts bilingual instructors from four continents around the globe and students from all around the world. “We aim to provide not just language but cultural education,” said Zapata. “Our name better describes the goal of both our school and our students, becoming global citizens. Language learning is a matter not just of learning words and grammar, but of understanding the context in which these portals to new worlds are used.”

With six newly renovated welcoming classrooms — for classes ranging from 1 to 10 students — and a modern, bright and colorful reception area, International School of Languages’ new space is located less than a block from their old location and is more accessible to everybody with a street level storefront access at 7906 Woodmont Avenue. “As we continue to grow, we are excited about our new space and look and believe our students will enjoy it too,” said Zapata. “This new location will allows us to better serve the needs of our students, and reflects our long term commitment.”
